The Space Between Us
A second iteration into Psychogeography allowed me to better visualize my own behavior within my environment. I photograph my surroundings and found out interesting insights. The sidewalks are in a different level as the street, this allows us to feel safer, but it also creates a behavioral mapping of where I should and shouldn’t walk. The freeway is divided into two directions. The streets in the city allow for infinite combinations and possibilities within the established routes. Other mechanisms that plot out our behavior on the street are: signs, lights, walkways, traffic lanes, sidewalks, etc.
This iteration helped me understand how we are subject to mechanisms that map our behaviors. Can we find this in our products? How do we make sense of it? What are these hidden mechanisms? And, What kind of behaviors do they map?
